Whitney,-Richard-N-(11-13-2014)-WEB.jpg Richard N. Whitney, M.D., Medical Director of Shepherd Hill,
has served as Medical Director since August 2001. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine in 1981, and a fellowship in Addiction Medicine in 1991. Dr. Whitney has practiced Addiction Medicine since that time. He is board certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine. He has also been certified through examination by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Academy of Pain Management and the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Highberger,-William-A-,-M-D34.JPG W. Andrew Highberger, M.D., 
received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed post-doctoral studies in general surgery, as well as a residency in anesthesia at The Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus. Dr. Highberger completed his fellowship in addiction medicine in 2014. He is board certified in addiction medicine and anesthesiology.

Barber,-Cindy-WEB.jpg Cynthia J. Barbour, R.N., B.S.N., C.A.R.N.,
began her practice in addictions at Shepherd Hill in 1989, specializing in the monitoring and detoxification of patients. In 1997, she assumed the role of Admissions Nurse. She received her diploma in nursing at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center School of Nursing in Youngstown, Ohio and her Bachelor of Science of Nursing at Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. She has been certified in Addiction Nursing since 1991. In her current role at Shepherd Hill, Cindy is responsible for the screening and assessment of the client’s physical, psychological and mental status to determine the need and most appropriate level of care for chemical dependency treatment. In conjunction with Richard Whitney, M.D., and Andrew Highberger, M.D., she facilitates the admission of patients to treatment at Shepherd Hill.

Hockenberry,-Eric-WEB.jpg Eric Hockenberry, B.S.N., R.N., C.A.R.N
began his practice in Behavioral Health Nursing in 1993, later specializing in the monitoring and detoxification of patients at Shepherd Hill in 2002. He received his Associate of Applied Science in Nursing at Central Ohio Technical College in Newark, and his Bachelor of Science of Nursing at Ohio University in Athens. He also has a certification in Addictions Nursing.
 In his current role, Eric is responsible for the screening and assessment of the client’s physical, psychological and mental status to determine the most appropriate level of care for chemical dependency treatment. In conjunction with Richard Whitney, M.D., and Andrew Highberger, M.D., he facilitates the admission of patients to treatment at Shepherd Hill, is a participant of the treatment team and works closely with insurance providers.

Laubis,-Ellen-M-WEB-(1).jpg Ellen Laubis, M.Ed. LICDC,
has been a chemical dependency counselor at Shepherd Hill since 1998. She completed her bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University in 1989, and her master’s degree in 1993. Ellen is the Clinical Supervisor for the chemical dependency unit at Shepherd Hill.

obtained his bachelor degree in Counseling from Cornerstone University. Ray is presently working in Family Education, Tobacco Cessation, Traditional Care, Extended and Outpatient Counseling. Ray joined Shepherd Hill in 2011.

has worked in the field of chemical dependency for 27 years and has been a licensed counselor since 1997. Ron is presently working in Traditional Care, Extended and Outpatient Counseling.

Shirley-(1).jpg Shirley Read, B.S.S., LCDCIII, ICADC,
obtained her associate degree in Human Resources (Chemical Dependency Counseling Program) at Central Ohio Technical College/OSU, and the bachelor’s degree in Specialized Studies of Behavioral and Mental Health at Ohio University. Shirley joined Shepherd Hill as a counselor in 2011.
